Let your care provider and labor nurse(s) know that you plan to take your placenta home.
Most hospitals will have you sign a waiver of release. If they do not have the ability to properly refrigerate it for you, you may need to bring a cooler and/or designate someone to bring the placenta home directly, and place it in the refrigerator. It is important that the placenta be treated as food, since you are planning to ingest it.
Once your baby is born please call or text me within 24 hours at 401-338-9525, and we will schedule a day and time for me to come to your home to begin the process. I bring the equipment necessary, but use your stove, sink, and some counterspace.
I should start the process asap, within 24-72 hours of birth. The sooner the better.
Day one: This takes me about an hour and 30 minutes to clean and prepare the placenta for the dehydrator.
Day two: I return the following day for about an hour to complete the process.
Average placenta yields 120 (or more) capsules.
You will also receive guidelines for dosing, and the dried cord keepsake.
